The information provided in the referenced article can be misleading and contradicting. To clarify: A Micronesian, as defined by Wiped, in the simplest of terms, is a big, dumb house. Build a big, smart house, and you’ll have just that! It’s also a matter of conformity!Do I live on a $600K street? $500K? A 4,000 sq. ft. new construction property on a lovely street of much smaller, older homes is, in my opinion, a little silly. Is it a Micronesian? Maybe. Not necessarily.Most interesting are the qualities that define this monstrosity; cheap building products, ugly façAde's -- homes that ultimately lack a definitive architectural style. If that’s the case, the Micronesian that is now declared over, should have never been. We collectively fed on this gluttony over the years when inventory was tight, lending loose, money cheap, and a ‘builders’ market dictated the new growth. Well, we’re done with all of that! It dozen’t take a mad mathematician to recognize that what once was found to be acceptable will never be again. Gosh, I hope that’s right! The on-going market correction will continue to guide our appetites for excess on a 1/5th of an acre. That’s another defining quality; homes that are built too close together. My home in Plaza Mid wood is approximately 1800 sq. ft., and lives on 1/3rd of an acre -- pretty much the antithesis of your neighbor’s XXL crib. But I would’t mind moving in there! My wife and I joke today, because we’vie had this casual conversation, repeatedly; before the kids arrived.How much house do we really need? What would we do with 3000 plus sq. ft? Today’s answer: Um, live in it! Then we had a kid -- carry the one -- no, make that two!So, what would we do with 4000 plus sq. ft. of smart house? Today’s answer: See above. Yes, each kid is equal to, but no greater than an extra 1000 sq. ft. of living space. If you’vie lived in Mid wood long enough you’re use to having good shade provided by the hundred year old Oak in the front yard, or the towering 3 story to the southeast. These big homes just need to make good sense, that’s all! And that’s all! Make it make sense!
